Son of Isaac and Sarah Sussman Shuster. Born in Illinois, then the family moved to Farmerville, Louisiana.
S W was also appointed an election commissioner for the town of Farmerville during the prohibition of 1885.
The Shusters then became embroiled in a scandal involving the sixteen year old Ida. On September 12, 1885, a pregnant and unmarried Ida died from taking strychnine.
Samuel is buried along with his mother, Sarah. His father Isaac and sister Ida, are buried in the Farmerville City Cemetery.
The spelling of the Shuster name is sometimes Schuster. Issac's gravestone is spelled with the c. Most of the census records drop the c.
