Funeral services for Codye Aaron Mardis, age 19 of Grayson, will be 2PM Friday, August 14, 2009 from the sanctuary of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Grayson with Bro. Tommy Nelson officiating and Billy Johnson II delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Cross Roads Cemetery. Codye was born in Monroe on June 19, 1990 and passed from this life on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 in Monroe. Codye was a member of the 5th LA Infantry Co. K, Civil War reenactment unit. He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Percy Mardis. Survivors include his parents; Julie Mardis Beckley and Steve Beckley and Raymond Patton, four brothers: Cole Beckley, Cameron Beckley, Caden Beckley and Rodney Patton, two sisters; Courtney Patton and Haleigh Patton, grandparents: Howard and Jackie Mardis, Beaver and Cathy Beckley, Jan and Jim Chapman, Brad and Lena Woolsey Burks and Cliff and Amanda Patton, great-grandparents: Melvin and Jean Powell, Imogene Mardis, Merle Dean Wallace and Kathy Ostic, aunts and uncles: Eric and Mandi Mardis, Matthew Mardis, Dewayne and Shana Beckley, Darren Beckley, Harold and Sherry Beckley, Clay Chapman, Brook Chapman, Sonjie Patton Winstead and Chance Patton and many cousins and so many friends. Pallbearers will be Tyler Thompson, Jared Graham, Hunter Beckley, Brandon Eddy, Cody "Tick" McElroy, Tyler "Tweeter" Warren, Derek Hefner and Alex "Lucky" Basco. Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining members of the 5th LA Inf. Co. K Civil War reenactment unit.
