THOMAS Walter Kozzie Payne, 85, a resident of the Thomas community, died at 1:30 p.m. yesterday in his home. He was retired from the Louisiana Department of Highways and a member of Thomas First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth B. and Jeannie Payne of Baton Rouge and J.W. and Carolyn Payne of Thomas; a daughter and son-in-law, Imojean and James W. Crain of Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren, Mike, Mark, and Jim Crain, Lauren, Kent, Clay, Ricky, Keith, Stacy, and Clint Payne, and Rodney Culpepper; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Maxie and
Retus Riles of Baker.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Lonie Thomas Payne; his parents, Walter and Frances Payne; a brother and four sisters; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Crain Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. tomorrow until time of the funeral service, to be conducted from the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Denny Brumfield and Eld. Willie J. Passman.
Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery.
