Helen Capers, 88, was welcomed into Heaven on April, 12, 2017. She died at St. Jude Hospital in Fullerton, Calif. from internal bleeding. She was born in Fouke Ark., January 20, 1929. She graduated from Transylvania HS in 1945.

Helen worked for many years in the Monroe Western Union office prior to her rise in management which landed her in San Antonio and lastly Dallas Texas. She was the first woman to become a Western Union city manager in the company's history. Her career spanned 40 years. She enjoyed her work and made deep enduring friendships along the way.

Helen was greatly loved by her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Perot of W. Monroe and Sherri Lovrien of Fullerton, Calif., grandson James Freeman Jr, great grandson Noah Freeman and sisters Virginia Langley and Wanda Kay (Pat) Hodge. She is pre-deceased by her husband of 45 years, Vernon Capers, her stepdaughter Claudia Livingston, stepson Bud Capers, stepson Billy Capers, her brothers Charles Brumley, Abe Brumley, Johnny Brumley and Irma Wheeler.

A celebration of her life will be at The Gathering, Saturday, April 29 at 1 p.m. Pastor Tim Mosher will officiate. The church address is 207 Defreese Road, West Monroe, Louisiana
