Killed in Action
Seaman Leonard Hubbard was an armed guard aboard Liberty ship USS Sumner I Kimball when it was sunk by a German U-Boat in the Atlantic Ocean on January 8, 1944. No survivors were found following the sinking. Seaman Hubbard was listed as Missing In Action until January 28, 1945, when he was declared deceased. His name is listed on the Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial in Cambridgeshire, England.
