The general viewing of Hasting Rachal's body will be Friday, September 11, 2015 at Winnfield Funeral Home, 3701 Hollywood Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana, 71109, from 12:00PM (Noon) until 7:30PM.

On Saturday, September 12, 2015, additional viewing of the body will be from 8:00AM to 9:15AM at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, 1050 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, Shreveport, Louisiana 71118. Rosary will start at 9:15AM and Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will promptly begin at 10:00AM with Rev. Francis Kamau, F.M.H. Officiating. Burial will follow immediately at St. Joseph Cemetery, 2100 Texas Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana 71103. Meal for family and friends will follow after burial at St. Mary of the Pines sponsored by the Bereavement Ministry.

Hasting Rachal, 94 years of age, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015. He was born February 16, 1921 to Matthew "Papa" Rachal and Mable "Mamoo" Dubreuil Rachal in Natchez, Louisiana. He was a member of the former Holy Rosary Catholic Church and St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church in Shreveport, Louisiana. He served our country in the United States Army and was stationed in Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno and North Africa from October 30, 1942 - December 14, 1945. He married Florence Conde on October 12, 1940 and the resided in Shreveport, Louisiana where he worked at the Army and Air Force Exchange Service for 26 years.

Hasting was a collector and an inventor and he could often be seen tinkering with his creations in his shop. He will be dearly missed. He was known as a "Southern Gentleman".

He is survived by his sister Roberta Rachal Balthazar of Shreveport, Louisiana, many nieces, nephews as well as great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Conde Rachal, his parents, Matthew Rachal, Mable Dubreuil Rachal, his sister Alverda Rachal LaCour and his brother Clarence Lee Rachal.
