Major Charles Edward Nicewarner, 76, USAF Retired, passed from this earth on October 21, 2014 at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was a resident at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Bossier City, Louisiana. Charles was born in northern Bossier Parish on April 29, 1938. He was a 1956 graduate of Benton High School, Benton, Louisiana, and graduated from LSU Baton Rouge in 1961. He entered the USAF in October, 1961 and was a B-52 pilot. He flew combat missions in Vietnam and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, and Air Force Commendation Medal. Charles retired from the USAF after 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Gladys Foster Nicewarner and Joel Preston Nicewarner, his brother Ivy Joel Nicewarner, and his daughter Whitney Marie Nicewarner. Those left to cherish his memory are his son Eric Preston Nicewarner, daughter-in-law Lacee Rashi Nicewarner and grandson Preston William Nicewarner of Lake Elsinore, CA, ex-wife Suzanne Jane Bates of Beaverton, OR and brother Enoch Forest Nicewarner and wife Roselyn Kees Nicewarner of Pineville, LA. He also left many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, Shreveport, LA. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM in Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.
