BOSSIER CITY, LA - Zinnie Grissom Burns was born August 15, 1925 in Quitman, LA. She went to rest with her Lord on August 12, 2013. She was an inspiration to all throughout her fight with cancer. Zinnie was a true friend and loved by all who knew her. She was a loving wife and mother devoted to her family, lovingly known as "Nanny". After attending LA Tech, she graduated from Tri-State School of Nursing in 1946 and became a dedicated Registered Nurse, retiring from Schumpert Hospital after 27 years of service. She had a special love for her Sunday School Class and the Noodle Club ladies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle and William Zinnie Grissom and her siblings, Selma Grissom, Willie Grissom, Pauline Grissom, Lodee Coleman, and great granddaughter, Landree George. Left to cherish her memory is husband of 66 years, Pleasant N. Burns; son, Ron Burns and wife Sina of Fredericksburg, TX; daughters, Susan George and husband Lake of Bossier and Patricia Miller and husband Lindy of Fairhope, AL. Grandchildren, Katie Burns Walker and husband Todd, Ragan Burns and wife Alicia, Lauren George Bamburg and husband Dennis, Jennifer George Owens and husband Joel, Lake George IV and wife Laura, Jason Miller and wife Reba, Paige Miller, Heather Tilley, Chris Tilley, Brittani Tilley; 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jason Miller, Ragan Burns, Lake George, Dennis Bamburg, Joel Owens, and Todd Walker.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 14 at Rose-Neath Bossier from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, August 15 at Asbury United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society .
