MANSFIELD, Louisiana - Funeral services for Mr Orin S Basco, 87 of Mansfield, Louisiana will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday December 3, 2008 in Centuries Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Monsignor Earl Provenza of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Mr Basco was born October 24, 1921 in Zwolle, Louisiana and passed away November 29, 2008 in Bossier City. He was a longtime resident of Mansfield, Louisiana and was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church. Mr Basco was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps, having served during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby; parents Sam and Martha Basco; brothers John, Jessie and Lewis Basco; sisters Verna Craig, Gladys Mouser and Lillian Basco. Survivors include daughter Dale Bankson; sons Ted and wife Donna Basco, Roger and wife Anna Basco, and Rodney and wife Cindy Basco; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The family would to thank the staff of the Louisiana War Veterans Home for their loving care. Special thanks goes to his friend, landlord and coffee drinker, Jeff Heard. Pallbearers will be Jeff Heard, Bryan Bankson, Rob Parks, Asa Basco, Logan Payne and Dillan Hogan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Zayne Bankson, Will Blankenship and Tyler Basco. Centuries Memorial December 2, 2008 The Final Salute “Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another. This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Orin S Basco our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Orin. And to Orin it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during World WarII while serving in the US Army Air Corps. Orin, we bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
