Funeral services for Fred Dale Becton, 71 of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church West Monroe. Rev. Randy Burdeaux will be officiating. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens West Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Fred was born April 17, 1941 in Monroe, LA and passed away April 25, 2012 in West Monroe. He retired from GM as a machine attendant and was currently working at Hixson Ford as a courtesy driver. Mr. Becton served in the United States Navy and was a member of Mt Vernon Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Amy Becton and a granddaughter, Taylor Becton. Fred was always willing to help anyone and, as a result, he made friends easily and never met a stranger. Fred is survived by his three children; Burton Becton, Mary Crouse and husband Mike and Dustin Becton and wife Nicole; 7 step-children; Debra Morton, Gilbert Becton, Sharon David, Randy Snodgrass, Jerry Horn, Tammy Seay and Troy Tillman; sister, Ethel Moore and husband Fred, and a brother, Frank Briggs and wife Julia; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Steven Hemphill, Brian Ray, Dewayne Saterfiel, Shane Saterfiel, Mike Crouse, Jared Saterfiel, Lance Stapleton and Mike Hargrove. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Pouland, Walter Stapleton, Briggs Becton and John Earl Becton. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church West Monroe.
