Funeral services for Roy C (R C ) McBroom, Jr of Monroe, LA will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home Monroe. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 5-7 pm at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Monroe. Phillip Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens in West Monroe, La under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.
R C was born December 5, 1938 in West Monroe, La and passed away on December 29, 2014 after a lengthy illness. He began his career working for Ford, Bacon and Davis and later for Standard Enterprises where he developed his love of the construction business. The majority of his life he was self employed as a General Contractor building houses and commercial buildings. He was also a licensed real estate broker, served in the US. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic, and was a Mason. R C enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting, camping, and coaching Dixie Youth baseball. He was full of life and always loved to have people around and have fun.
He is preceded in death by his parents Roy C and Addie McBroom; brother, Jimmy McBroom, and sister, Jo Dunn.
R C is survived by his closest and best friend of 19 years, Melanie Bond; sons, Curtis McBroom, Todd McBroom and wife Sheila; daughters, Belinda Harrett and husband John, and Debra McBroom; grandchildren, Katie Bremer and husband Greg, Maegan McBroom, Carson McBroom, Beaux McBroom, Matt McBroom, Jake McBroom, Laine Harrett, Lauren Harrett, Justin Cannon and wife Jade, Bridget Easley and husband Tyler; great grandchildren, Jolie Cannon, Hayden Cannon, Annakay Easley, Blake Easley, and Daylan Easley sisters; Virginia Stevens, Doris Lee, Brenda Trisler, Joyce Albritton and husband Dub, Shirley Bacon and husband Woody; brother Benny McBroom; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Henson Crenshaw, Jim Bond, Danny Peeler, Daniel Wood, Wade Wyatt, and Phillip Zalewski.
