Funeral services for Mr Millard "Bill" Bilton, Jr, age 77, will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 19, 2011, in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of West Monroe. Officiating will be Rev Tom Lowe. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of West Monroe.

Bill was born in Waco, Texas and passed away in West Monroe, Louisiana at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tressie and Millard Bilton, Sr; brother, Robert Bilton; 3 sisters, Nell Blythe, Edith Schoenthal and Anita Pullen. Survivors are his beloved wife of 55 years, Evelyn Newton Bilton; daughter, Dr Lisa Michele Bilton of Nashville, Tennessee; sons, Dr Bradley David Bilton and his wife, Kellyn of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Steven Bruce Bilton and his wife, Misty of West Monroe, Louisiana ;granddaughters, Lexie Rae Bilton of West Monroe, Louisiana and Mia Lee Bilton of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; grandson, Noah Michael Bilton of West Monroe, Louisiana ; sisters, Tressie Bilton Hornbuckle and her husband, Clay of Kennett, Missouri and Janet Bilton Mathis of Gatesville, Texas; mother-in-law, Hazel Grayson Newton of Monroe, Louisiana, and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.

Bill was a 10 year veteran of the US Navy and served in the Korean Conflict on a destroyer and later in the Phillipines in the Seabees (construction battalion). He also served in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was awarded several medals for his service to his country. Bill and his wife Evelyn married in 1956. Bill loved his children and was always supportive in their endeavors and fostered achievement especially in education. He loved to fish, was active in the community, served as a coach for his sons and many others in baseball and football as well as serving as an athletic booster and supporter. He made it a point to be at every game, practice, and ballet recital. Bill was a local self-made businessman prior to his retirement. He was a devoted husband and father who loved and cherished his family. His precious grandchildren were the light of his life in later years.

Donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Louisiana and/or to any Veteran charity.

Pallbearers will be Joe Newton, Dr Stuart Melton, William "Dub" Howard, Craig Pederson, Kevin Carroll, and Will DuPriest.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Parker and Grayson Parker.
