A service of worship celebrating the life of Regina Dozier Humphries will be held on Saturday, November 12, 11:00 AM at Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel, 300 McMillan Rd., West Monroe, LA. Mrs. Humphries, age 78, died on Wednesday, November 9th, and now sings with all the saints in glory.

Regina was born in Strong, AR to the late Homer and Odell Dozier, the second of three children, her siblings being the Reverend Ronald B. Dozier of Cordova, TN and Anice Lobley of Cabot, AR.

She is survived by husband of 59 years, Harold L. Humphries; 2 sons, Reggie Humphries, Rev. Richard "Dick" Humphries (Jan); 3 daughters, Susie Leonard (Dr. Jimmy), Judy Pendergrass (Tracy), Marilyn H. Schoen (Jerry); 7 grandchildren; Betsy Smith (Patrick), Mary Alaine Bragg (Byron), Janey Humphries, Lamar Dowling, Dustin Pendergrass, Savannah Pendergrass, and Taylor Schoen; and 4 great-grandchildren, Aubrey Smith, Alex Smith, Amelia Smith, and Baxter Bragg; brother, Bernard Dozier (Chris); sister, Anice Lobeley (Ted) and numerous nieces and nephews.

She attended public schools in Strong, AR and later attended both Southern State College in Magnolia, AR and Arkansas A&M in Monticello, during which time she and Harold married. Upon her husband's graduation with a degree in forestry, they lived in Huttig, AR, and Farmerville, LA, finally moving to West Monroe where she resided and raised her family since 1969.

An occasional substitute teacher in Huttig, AR, her primary love and life was her family.

She was wife, mother, consummate homemaker, an excellent cook and entertainer, who truly had the gift of hospitality. She loved antiquing, decorating her home, and providing fantastic meals for family and friends.

Regina was a lover of music, especially gospel, a love passed down to her from her father. She sang in the church choir for a number of years, especially at McGuire United Methodist Church. She was involved in the Lay Witness Mission movement across the state of Louisiana as well as other states in the region. She was also active in small group Bible study and prayer groups.

A very good seamstress who made many of her children's clothes, she was the epitome of Proverbs 31:27, "She looks well to the ways of her household…" Regina was a supporter of numerous Christian ministries, both locally and regionally. An avid reader of books on spiritual matters and a diligent student of the Scriptures, she will be remembered as one who, as the Scriptures admonish us, did not neglect to show hospitality to strangers. (Hebrews 13:2).

She and her husband were members of McGuire United Methodist Church from 1969 until they joined St. Paul's United Methodist in Monroe. Rev. J. Roddy Taylor of St. Paul's will officiate, assisted by Rev. Susan M. Ferguson. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to either St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1901 Lexington Ave., Monroe, LA 71201, or the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Ave., Miami, FL 33136.

Interment will follow the service at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens in West Monroe.
