SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Mona McClaran Anderson begin with visitation at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. A memorial service to celebrate Mona's life will be held at Word of Life Center located at 4425 Meriwether Road, Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery in Bossier City.
Mona was born in New Iberia, Louisiana, January 2, 1949, and throughout her life was many things to many people: mother, "Gran", sister, friend, confidant, and counselor. She was greatly respected in the legal community after serving over 30 years as a paralegal. Mona was instrumental in the support and encouragement of many suffering from compulsive gambling in her community and became a member of the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Association on Compulsive Gambling (LACG) where she served for several years. Through this and in all things, she gave beyond her means and loved beyond compare. A proud Christian, Mona brought many to Christ by her example. Mona never did anything half way or on anyone else's terms and she was loved for that. Strong and devout, she was a woman of character. Mona went home to be with her savior May 9, 2010, after faithfully battling pancreatic cancer.
Mona is predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Bernice Alvarado. She leaves behind three daughters, Leslye McClaran Morgan, Ashley McClaran, and Baileigh McClaran Levee with husband Zac. Three grandchildren, Kathryn, Parker, and Avahline, will miss her dearly. Also left to treasure her memory are brother Frank Alvarado of Horseshoe Bay, TX; sisters, Dolores Boutte of New Iberia, LA, Patsy Lennie of Gretna, LA, and Jennifer Manuel of Broussard, LA along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
