LETON, LA- Funeral services will be held for G.F. "Pistol" Thomas, 87, at the Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer on Monday, Aug. 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Bernard Canterberry and Rev. Floyd Stratton. Interment will follow at Whitehall cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
Mr. Thomas was born March 6, 1921 in Leton, LA to John Young Thomas and Willie May Kirkpatrick Thomas. He entered into rest Friday, Aug. 15, 2008 at his home. Mr. Thomas was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He had been a deacon at Old Union Baptist Church since Aug. 1959, an original Volunteer Fireman with Webster Parish Fire District, District #1 and worked for Shaw Plumbing in Minden for more than 30 years. Mr. Thomas was the President of the Board of Directors of Claiborne Electric Co-Op and a serving member for more than 52 years. In Baton Rouge, he was on the board of Cajun Electric and the Association of Louisiana Electric Co-Ops for more than 20 years. He was a member and Past Master of the Dorcheat Masonic Lodge #276 for 55 years.
His parents; one daughter, BonitaJo Thomas Bower; three sisters and five brothers, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lena Mae Childs Thomas; son, James G. "Bubba" Thomas and wife, Debbie; son-in-law, Buddy Bower all of Haynesville, LA; daughters, Mary Beth Thomas Lumpkin and husband, Ronnie of Clarksville, TN and Becky Thomas Cox and husband, Gary of Leton, LA; sisters, Carrie Mae Edmonds of Haynesville, LA and Louise Foster of Sarepta, LA; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Chris Lumpkin, Dan Lumpkin, Jamie Lumpkin, Ben Bower, Brax Thomas and Brady Cox, special niece, Ginger Slack, and a special friend, Gary Daniels.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Board of Directors of Claiborne Electric Co-Op and the Deacons of Old Union Baptist Church.

HOMER, LA - Funeral services will be held for Lena Mae Thomas, 86, at Rose-Neath Home Chapel in Homer, on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Scott Teutsch and Rev. Bernard Canterbury will officiate. The interment will follow at the White Hall cemetery.
Mrs. Thomas was born March 15, 1924, in Grove, LA, to Jim and Lizzie Merritt Childs. She entered into rest on October 2, 2010, in Haynesville, LA. Lena Mae (Aunt Doman to so many) was a professional wife, mother, gardener, seamstress and fisherman. The Lord, Family and friends were the true loves of her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband G.F. "Pistol" Thomas, children; Mary Beth Thomas Lumpkin, Bonita Jo Thomas Bower and James G. "Bubba" Thomas, parents Jim and Lizzie Childs, and her siblings.
She is survived by daughter Becky Cox and husband Gary of Leton, LA, grandchildren; Chris Lumpkin and wife Michelle of Porter, TX, Mary Faith Elgindy of Carlsbad, CA, Daniel Lumpkin and wife Kelly of Cleveland, TN, Hope DeSormeaux and husband Mike of Highland Village, TX, Jamie Lumpkin of Clarksville, TN, Charity Gross of Clarksville, TN, Amanda Plaisance and husband Jack of LaRose, LA, Ben Bower and wife Rebecca of Minden, LA, Maggie Punch and husband Jeremy of Lockport, LA, Brady Cox of Leton, LA, Joli Plumlee and husband Kyle of Minden, LA and Braxton Thomas of Haynesville, LA, great-grandchildren; Jonathan Lumpkin and wife Laura, Amber and Aaron Lumpkin, Adam, Gabriel, and Sammy Elgindy, Danny, McKaylah Beth and Jordan Lumpkin, Madelynn DeSormeaux, Savannah and Mario Vega, Evan Thomas, Madilyn and Faith Plaisance, Brody and Barron Bower and Sophie Jo Punch, great-great granddaughter Jaden Lumpkin, and one great-great grandchild on the way, son-in-law Rev. Ron Lumpkin, daughter-in-law Debbie Thomas, extended family Buddy and Margo Bower, and by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Chris Lumpkin, Dan Lumpkin, James Lumpkin, Ben Bower, Brady Cox, Jack Plaisance, Jeremy Punch, Mike DeSormeaux and Braxton Thomas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Amanda Plaisance, Joli Plumlee, Hope DeSormeaux, Faith Elgindy, Maggie Punch and Rebecca Bower.
Memorials may be made to American Breast Cancer Society, St. Jude's, or to the choice of the donor.
