November 11, 1998 - August 24, 2014
Camille Marie Cates burst forth into this world on Nov. 11th 1998, head full of black hair and screaming at the top of her lungs, born to two loving parents, Jim and Marydel Cates.
She is survived by her parents; sisters, Casey and Kerry Cates; brother, Coley Cates; maternal grandparents, Jose and Marianita Estorco; aunts, Sandra Summinggit, Victoria Cadiente; uncle Jose Estorco; cousins, Glenn Summinggit, Hannah Pajuelas, Shenna and Frances Cadiente; nieces and nephews, Gabriel Pinkerton, Hannah and Jack Lolley, Virginia and Millie Cates; special friends, Lucas, Nicholas, Michael, Caleb, and Shawna; as well as her dogs whom she loved dearly: Blizzard, Applejack, and Louise.
Camille was a wonderful artist who loved to sketch, filling notebooks with idyllic scenes of friends and animals, though it was not uncommon to find the occasional crazed bunny or octopus attacking an unsuspecting person. She would correspond with her friends and cousins sharing letters interspersed with her incredible artwork.
A beautiful soul, Camille was also a poetic writer with a talent for prose far beyond her years. She loved to blog about any array of subjects that she found interesting: anime, tv shows, games she played, or just sharing humorous pictures much to the delight of those who followed her. She was also an avid reader, her favorite being the Warrior books, and would spend much time with her cousin Virginia in deep discussion about them.
Camille was enthralled with My Little Pony, and named her dog Applejack after one of the characters.
Camille could survive indefinitely on China Wok and double cheeseburger meals at McDonalds, and was known to charm a whole bag of fortune cookies out of the owner of Chens Panda Restaurant upon every visit.
A member of the Ruston Church of Christ, she is now in the land of still waters and green pastures, where there is no suffering and joy is eternal, in the embrace of her family that has passed on before her. This kind and tender soul will live on in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be 4-5 (family) and 5-8 (public) at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Thursday, August 28. Funeral service to be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ruston Church of Christ, 2300 Woodward Avenue, Ruston, LA 71270-2069. Burial to follow at Pines Memorial Garden, 2147 Mitcham Orchard Rd, Ruston.
