H. H. Watkins Succumbs at 77 in Homer

HOMER – Herbert H. Watkins, 77, of Homer, died Feb. 10 in the Homer Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was a member of the First Christian Church.
In 1920 he moved to Homer and for 36 years held the position of superintendant of production for Sinclair Oil Co., in 1956 he retired from Sinclair and became an independent oil contractor.
He was a veteran of World War I, past commander of American Legion Post No. 173 of Homer and a member of Voiture Locale No. 137 of the Forty and Eight of Shreveport. He served as president of the Claiborne Parish Police Jury for 16 years, for two years he was president of the Louisiana State Police Jury Organization.
He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Archie Monroe of Magnolia, Ark. and Mrs. Byron Bronstad of Kilgore, Tex.; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held in the First Baptist Church, Homer, at 3 p.m. Saturday, conducted by Dr. Billy K. Smith and Dr. V. L. McKee.
