Laverne Opal Hodges Peterson - HOUSTON, TX - Laverne Opal Hodges Peterson passed peacefully in her sleep on August 24, 2013 in Houston where she has lived for the past 17 years; she was 89 years old. She was born on February 2, 1924 in Many, LA. Her family later moved to Bossier City, LA where she met Alfred H. Peterson, while he was in the service, and they were married on November 2, 1942; he preceded her on April 18, 1990 at the age of 75. Laverne Peterson was a member of the Green Acres Baptist Church in Bossier City; she was always willing to help with church activities and help other people in need. Her husband was a builder in Bossier City and she worked as a restaurant hostess.She has one son, Dennis D. Peterson of Houston, TX. Her remaining brother, Charles Hodges age 93, and various nieces and nephews live with their families in or near Bossier City. Viewing will be at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City on Friday, August 30th from 5 - 8 pm. Services will be held at the same location on August 31st at 11:30 am with graveside services following immediately at Forest Park Cemetery East.
