SHREVEPORT, LA- Funeral services for Martha Ann Dickens, 82, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Bro. John Harp and Bro. Gary Melanson. Interment will follow in Forest Park St. Vincent Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the funeral home.

Martha was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1930 in Magnolia, AR to H.E. and Evelyn Alexander. She passed away on December 1, 2013 in her home surrounded by family. Martha, also known as "Marty" or "Meme" was a graduate of Homer High School in 1948 and LA Tech University in 1952. She was a member of Friends of Genealogy and very active in church groups, personal friend groups "Lunchbunch," and Winner's Circle Sunday School Class. She loved animals, traveling, spending time at a lake house on Lake Bistenau, and being a football coach's wife. Her favorite time of year was Christmas because she shared a birthday with Jesus. She was a homemaker and caregiver to her parents, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Marty was preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 64 years, Charles Dickens; daughter, Ann Dickens Holtzclaw; sister-in-law, Elbie Dickens; grandchildren, Tiffany Holtzclaw Martin and husband, Jason, and Jason Holtzclaw and wife, Carson; great-grandchildren, Addison Martin, Ashton Martin, Beaux Holtzclaw, and Kallyn Holtzclaw.

Pallbearers will be Jason Martin, Jason Holtzclaw, Steve Brown, Jimmy Bates, Joe Bates, Bill Boyd, and Jerry Burton. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Kenny Simpson.

The family would like to extend special thanks to New Horizons and Regional Hospice Care Group of Northwest Louisiana. A special thank you to caretakers, Virginia, Pam, Cynthia, and Yoshua.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an animal rescue of donor's choice.
