Shreveport, LA - Funeral services for June Despot Gaertner will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, December 6th, at the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans, Shreveport, La., followed by interment at Forest Park Cemetery. Officiating will be Msgr. J. Carson LaCaze. June passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the age of 87, in Richmond, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Rose Despot; brother, Mitchael Despot; and husband, William Gaertner. She is survived by her sons, W. Ronald Gaertner and wife, Marcia Balkan, Michael D. Gaertner and wife, Cynthia Gaertner; four grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and nephews, David and Mitchael Despot. June taught at St. Vincent's Academy as well as Jesuit High School. She sold real estate for many years with Gaertner Real Estate. Along with her husband Bill, she was best known for sponsoring many refugees and families through Catholic Charities. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans.
