Felix "Phil" Wheeler was a man with many talents and passions, but there was no greater passion he had then entertaining people and making them happy. From being a MC while attending Byrd High School to being one of the number 1 cheerleaders at Louisiana Tech, Felix was always entertaining people. However, it didn't stop there for many years he was the smiling face selling Christmas trees in the Jayce lot and in his free time he was BOBO the clown in the Shriner's parade and at the Shriner's Hospital. Felix would also visit many hospitals and nursing homes and preform his ventriloquist act with his side kick "Uncle Wilmer", and during the Holidays he was the Santa Claus at Cowen's Studios were he brought smiles to hundreds of kids face over the 13 years he was there. However, it was in music that Felix's passion and love shined through from singing in the choir, to being a music director at 5 different churches, to even writing "The Passion of the Christ" that was performed by his Morningside Choir there was no greater love he had then music, except the love he had for his one true love Betty Wheeler who he spent 55 wonderful years with. Over those years Felix and Betty would travel the country together, open a family bar-b-q place better known as Phils, and spend the rest of their time raising their kids, grandkids, and even great grandkids all the while still maintaining that love they had for each other from the first time they met. Yes Felix was a man of many talents and passions but anyone who knew him knew whether he was wearing a Santa outfit, a clown outfit, or just his regular clothes he could always make them smile. Felix is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Wheeler of Shreveport, LA; daughters, Melody Alayne Wheeler of Shreveport, LA, Felisa Ann Wheeler Robenalt and husband Jeff of Atlanta, GA; sister, Jackie Wheeler Bailey and husband Paul of Houston, TX; nephews, Brad Bailey, Clay Bailey and their families; grandchildren, Frank Preston Yarbrough II, Alisa Newsome and husband Barry, Tayler Scott Cathey and wife Katy, and Rebel Grey Cathey; great-grandchildren, Dan Preston Yarbrough, II, Elora Elizabeth Newsome, Isabella Violet Claire Newsome, Abigail Anastasia Newsome, and Evangeline Adelaide Newsome. Felix "Phil" Wheeler will truly be missed by all who knew him.
