SHREVEPORT, LA - John Anthony Gullo, age 78, died peacefully Sunday, February 13, 2011, from complications of a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Annie Gullo, and his brother, Frank J. Gullo.

Born December 11, 1932, John was a lifetime resident of Shreveport, LA. He graduated from Byrd High School and served proudly in the U.S. Air Force. He worked 37 years for G&G Distributing Company retiring in 1995. John also owned and operated Gullo's Produce, along with his wife, Reatha, for many years. John was always there to greet his customers and friends with a smile.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 54 years, Reatha McCrory Gullo; their son, Joseph A. Gullo and wife, Terri; and daughter, Theresa Gullo Hamilton and husband, Russell, all of Shreveport, LA. John is also survived by his grandson, Craig W. Hamilton; his granddaughters, Brooke Gullo, Denena Fulco and Abigail Gullo; and many precious nieces and nephews.

A dedicated Christian, John always understood how important it was for his family to know and trust in the Lord. He exemplified the Christian life of service and dedication. He loved his family dearly, and he was always there for them with his enduring strength of faith ? to see them through whatever came their way. John touched many people, making an immeasurable difference in their lives. His kind and gentle spirit, along with his caring nature, will always be remembered.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Jeri Rust Ebarb for her care and devotion throughout John's illness. He truly loved her. We would also like to thank Felecia Wilson, who was always there when we needed her. Special thanks are also extended to Dr. Craig Miller and Dr. Raja Zabaneh.

Funeral services celebrating John's life will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 17, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Officiating will be The Rev. Monsignor Earl V. Provenza, V.F. Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Funeral Home.

Honored to serve John as pallbearers will be his nephews, Frank J. Gullo, Jr. and Joseph Grafton; and Verle Russell, Eugene Guy, Marlin Barlow and Art Castro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to The American Diabetes Association, 2620 Centenary Blvd., Shreveport, LA 71104-3356.
