Shreveport, LA - Graveside Services for Richard Kenneth "Popeye" Keith, 80, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Lay Cemetery, Red River Baptist Church, 3301 E. Linton Road, Benton, LA. Officiating will be his great nephew, Matthew Montgomery. Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Marshall Street Chapel.

Popeye was born August 22, 1931, in El Dorado, AR to J.T. Keith, Sr. and Clair Tuggle Keith. He died of a heart attack May 5, 2012. Popeye served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Cotton Belt Railroad after 24 years of service. He was an avid motorcyclist and could fix anything. He was a loving person and never turned anyone down who sought help from him.

Popeye was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Esther Keith; sister, Margaret Lorraine Keith Guess; and brothers, J.T. Keith Jr. and Malcolm "Mickey" Keith.

He is survived by his sisters, Martha Keith Simpson of Portland, OR and Barbara Keith Gay. He is also survived by his special friend, Rubye Woodridge; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Joseph Clayton Guess, Jr., Richard Gilbert Gay, Jr., Richard Gilbert Gay, III, John Gay, Mark Montgomery, Jarred Montgomery, John Barr and Aaron Barr. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Simpson, Richard Brian Montgomery, Tom Floring and Daniel Floring.
