Memorial services for John William Wilhite Sr, 94, of Sterlington, Louisiana, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe with Rev. Mike Jerry Smith officiating. Mr. Wilhite passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Northeast Louisiana Veterans Home. He was a World War II and Korean Conflict Veteran serving in the Army Air Corp and the US Air Force. He was an instrumental part of forming the Ouachita Parish Fire Department, served as a Police Juror for Ouachita parish for 12 years, and an Alderman for the Town of Sterlington for 8 years. He was part of the Sterlington Troop 67 of Eagle Scouts, Sterlington Masonic Lodge, and a member of St. Andrews Methodist Church in Sterlington. He was also an auto body mechanic for over fifty years.Mr. Wilhite was preceded in death by his mother and father, Emmitt Lee Wilhite and Mrytle Suggs Wilhite, and three sisters; Helen Wimberly, Mary McCormack, and Laura Parkinson.Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Louise Wilhite, two sons; John William Wilhite Jr. and wife Charlotte, and Jeffery Lee Wilhite, two daughters; Linda Lee Wilhite and Rhonda Lynn Wilhite Keen and husband Roger, and a sister; Louise Wilhite, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two nephews; Mike Parkinson and Greg Parkinson. Honorary Pallbearers will be; John W. Wilhite Jr., Jeffery Lee Wilhite, Roger W. Keen, Derek W. Keen, Travis B. Keen, and Nathan H. Keen.Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday.
