Funeral services for Mr. Bennie Aaron Raborn, age 72, will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, February 15, 2016, at the First Baptist Church, Springhill, with Rev. Ronald Morgan and Rev. Perry Johnson officiating. Interment, with Masonic graveside rites, will follow in the Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill.
Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon, February 14, 2016 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the funeral home chapel.
Mr. Raborn was born on August 23, 1943 to Aaron and Margaret Louise Jones Raborn in Springhill, LA and passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016 at his home in Springhill, LA. He was a lifelong resident of Springhill, a graduate of Springhill High School, class of 1963 and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a retired officer of the Springhill Police Department with 10 years of service and a retired deputy of the Webster Parish Sheriff's Department with 15 years of service. He was a member and past Master of the Springhill Masonic Lodge #348 FandAM and a member of the Louisiana Sheriff's Association and Peace Officer's Association.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Laura Barfoot Raborn; son, Clay Raborn of Bradley, AR; two granddaughters, Lauren Raborn, Erin Raborn; brother-in-law, Gerald Morgan of Haynesville, LA, a host of nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends.
Mr. Raborn was preceded in death by his parents; son, Aaron Hampton Raborn, on October 7, 1993 and sister, Linda Sue Raborn Morgan.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital; First Baptist Church Youth Fund or to charity of donors choice.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jared Pickett, Ty Miller, James Vidler, Noel Barfoot, Keith Morgan, Todd Kirkpatrick, Mark Dickerson and Joshua Kirkpatrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Stephens, Jerry Moore, Butch Lynd, Rus Green, Ed Bobbitt, Johnny Robinson and Gary Sexton
