Funeral services for Mr. Julius Shelton Mizell, age 89, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a long time faithful member, with Rev. Jerry Carter and Rev. Pat Davis officiating. Interment, with Masonic graveside rites, will follow in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Mizell was born on December 26, 1925 to John Wallace and Evelyn Mineva Carter Mizell in Moss Point, MS and passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015 in Shreveport, LA. He was a lifelong resident of this area and was a retired yard truck driver for International Paper Company with 33 and a half years of service. He was a member of the Springhill Masonic Lodge #348 FandAM and the El Karuba Shriners of Shreveport.
He is survived by his a sister, Grace M. Shaw of Haughton, LA; son-in-law, Wayne Tripp and wife, Susan and a special friend and companion, Brenda Glass. He is preceded in death by his wife, Billie Eason Mizell; daughters, Christi Ann Mizell Tripp and Nancy Mizell; his parents; sister, Dasie McAlpine and brother, Wallace Mizell.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Thurman, Robert Hilburn, Willie "Butch" Lynd, III, Lloyd Clements, Jason Talley and Wayne King. Honorary pallbearers will be other members of the Springhill Masonic Lodge #348 FandAM.
