The Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Latin: Congregatio Sanctissimi Redemptoris – C.Ss.R) is a Roman Catholic missionary congregation founded by Saint Alphonsus Liguori at Scala, near Amalfi, Italy, for the purpose of labouring among the neglected country people in the neighbourhood of Naples.
The Redemptorists, as they are commonly called, number 5300 members serving people across the world in 78 countries.
The motto of the Congregation "Copiosa Apud Eum Redemptio " means: "With Him there is Plentiful Redemption". Like St. Alphonsus, they follow Jesus the Redeemer in preaching this Good News to the poor.
