Cockrell Creek Cemetery
Rapides County,
Louisiana

Cemetery on Cockrell Creek, Rapides Parish La

What is now called Cockrell Creek was known as Beaver by the old timers - the relatives that knew of this cemetery.

This cemetery is unnamed and unmapped as for as I know. It does not appear on the U.S.G.S. topographical map of Rapides Parish. It is in the woods and is covered with dense forest and undergrowth. It is located in a generally S.E. direction from Midway, approximately 2-3 miles off the Forest Hill - LeCompte highway. At present the land is owned or leased by the Meeker Hunting Club
and a pad locked iron gate approximately 3/4 to 1 mile from the cemetery blocks the entrance.

The cemetery is quite large and presumably quite old. Most graves are probably unmarked. This is assumed this from the numbers of sunken places and distances between stones.
