Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred C. Benson, age 91, will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Springhill, LA with Rev. Gladney Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Benson was born on April 10, 1924 to James L. and Sarah Jane Guthrie Blanton in Huntsville, AL and passed away on December 6, 2015 in Shreveport. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church, Cotton Valley and was retired from Edmont Wilson Glove Plant in Haynesville after 37 years of service. She enjoyed mowing her yard, taking care of her flowers, and being on the go at all times. She is survived by her four daughters, Kay Fitzgerald and husband, Walter of Shreveport, LA, Peggy Foster and husband, John of Elm Grove, LA, Gail Duck of Shongaloo, Linda Johnson of Haughton; son, Jim Benson and wife, Cecilia of Bossier City; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and ten great great-grandchildren. Mrs. Benson was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul A. Benson, son, Morris Wayne Benson, grandson, Kenneth Larson, son-in-law, Donald E. Duck. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
