COTTON VALLEY, LA - Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Henson Simmons, age 77, will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church, Cotton Valley, with Rev. Kenny Joiner and Rev. Don Shirley officiating. Interment will follow in Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Cotton Valley, LA.Visitation will begin Friday at 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, Cotton Valley, LA.Mrs. Simmons was born September 21, 1935 in Springhill, LA to Bruce Edward and Tempie Mae Morgan Henson and passed away April 24, 2013 in Minden, LA. She was a lifelong resident of this area, a faithful member of the Cotton Valley First Baptist Church and was a retired Webster Parish Librarian for Minden and Springhill, where her passion for the children's Summer Reading Program shined! Mrs. Simmons also enjoyed her flower gardens. She was a loving wife and mother.She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bobby Joe Simmons of Cotton Valley; daughter, Renae Simmons of Minden, LA; sisters, Eddie Mae Jester of Springhill, Betty Jean Rutledge of Bridgeport, TX, Bonnie Sue Smith and husband, Reed M. of Atlanta, TX; brothers, Harry Henson and wife, Derinda of Cotton Valley, Ben R. Henson and wife, Mona of Phoenix, AZ; sister-in-law, Joyce Henson of Bivins, TX; 11 nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews.Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Wayne Henson and a nephew, Danny R. Smith.Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Jones, David Matthews, Bill Rutledge, Sidney Cox, Dewayne Reeves and David Brice. Honorary pallbearers will be Debbie Jones and Brian Jones.
