Davis "Peanut" Cox, Jr.
STONEWALL, LA - A funeral service will be held for Peanut on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. His service will be officiated by Bro. Danny Taylor and assisted by Bro. Rick Walters. Interment will follow at Cotton Valley Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home.
Peanut was born on November 20, 1930 in Cotton Valley, LA and passed away on June 26, 2014 in Arcadia, LA after a lengthy illness. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 and retired from Nerco Oil in 1992.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Juneau Cox; daughter, Paula Cox Manning; parents, Davis Gray Cox, Sr. and Ida Harvey Cox; brother, Walter Cox; and sisters, Odessa Cox and Margie Cox Perry.
Peanut is survived by his sons, Milton Cox and wife Karen, Donnie Cox and wife Sheila, Mike Cox and wife Teresa; grandchildren, Jennifer Rhea, Chris, Jerad, and Jeremy Cox; step-grandchildren, Joe and Tommy Trojan and Jacob Herrington; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by Pat Warren, girlfriend and caregiver, and many friends from Council on Aging and VFW, where he loved to dance and raise the roof.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Boyd, Larry Boyd, Gene Perry, Cody Cox, Dennis Smith, Fletcher Christian and Joe Trojan.
