Jack Hanson, 93, of Cotton Valley, LA died Sunday, August 3, 2014 at his home.
He was born February 8, 1921 in Emerson, AR to the late Lee and Clara (Merritt) Hanson. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cotton Valley and was an Air Force Veteran. He retired from International Paper Company and loved to hunt, especially deer.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Floyd Hanson, Jessie B. Hanson, Leon Hanson, and Ray Hanson; and his sister Eunice Hanson Perkins.
He is survived by his wife Dewanna Holder Hanson of Cotton Valley, LA; daughters Rosetta Hord and husband Murray of Minden, LA, Jackie Yarbrough and husband John of Minden, LA, and Nancy Windham of Minden, LA; son Mark D. Hanson of Cotton Valley, LA; grandsons Shawn T. Myers of Bossier City, LA, Shayne McGinity of Benton, LA, Jason McGinity and wife Tara of Benton, LA, and Tyler C. Windham of Leton, LA; granddaughters Crystal Myers Tippen of Minden, LA, Brandi S. DeHart and husband Brandon of Cotton Valley, LA, and Misty D. Troquille and husband Todd of Minden, LA; 11 great grandchildren; and brother Edward Hanson and wife Pat of Cotton Valley, LA.
Funeral services will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, August 6th at the First Baptist Church in Cotton Valley with Bro. Don Shirley and Kenneth DeHart officiating. Burial will follow at the Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc, of Springhill, LA. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7PM at First Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be nephews Kenny Hanson, Ronnie Hanson, Gene Hanson, Teddie Hanson, Mike Hammett, Rickey Hammett, J.T. Hanson, Troy Hanson, and Roger Hanson. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Andrews and Donald Ray Perkins.
