SAREPTA, LA - Funeral services for Mrs. Helen McMichael Cochran, age 92, will be held Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 10:00 AM in New Sarepta Baptist Church with Rev Scott Teutsch officiating. Interment will follow in Old Sarepta Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill, LA. Visitation will begin Friday at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bailey Mortuary, Springhill, LA. Mrs Cochran was born April 4, 1917 in Ringgold, LA to John Oscar and Johnnie Jewel Snow McMichael and passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009 in Ruston, LA. She was a lifelong resident of this area and a faithful member and church secretary of New Sarepta Baptist Church for many years. Mrs. Cochran was a school teacher for 37 ½ years and taught fifth grade at Sarepta School. She graduated from Cotton Valley High School, Louisiana Tech and Southern State College, receiving her Master's Degree. She is survived by her son Carrol Cochran and wife Patricia of Ruston, LA; grandson Brandon Wayne Cochran and wife Audrey of Houston, TX; sisters Mildred Goodwin of Cotton Valley, Shirley Smith and husband Billy of Spring- hill, LA and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs Cochran was preceded in death by parents; husband Felix Cochran; brother J O "Bud" McMichael, Jr and two sisters Hazel Moore and Marguerite Maxwell. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Ruston Rehab and nursing staff and Dr. Holley Kidd for their loving professional care of our loved one. Pallbearers will be Robert Smith, Scott Taliaferro, Brandon Kottenbrook, E L Edwards, Casey Blaylock and Dr George Smith.
