Funeral services for Mrs. Fern Ellington, 48, who died Monday afternoon in Minden Sanitarium after a brief illness, were held at 3 p.m. yesterday in the chapel of Green-Kleinegger Funeral Home. The Rev. James Poole officiated and burial was in Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers were Floyd Turner, Jack Bridges, Fred McGowan, Lee Bridges, Albert Simolke and Buddy Moreland. Mrs. Ellington was a native of Blanchard and had resided in Minden for 24 years. She was a member of Lakeview Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Thad Ellington; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Betty McGowan of Shreveport; a stepson, F. E. Ellington of Oakland, Calif.; three brothers, V. Jones of Lake Arthur, La., R. T. Jones of Shreveport and M. E. Jones of Hayward, Calif; one sister, Mrs. Stella Samson of Honolulu, Hawaii. (The Minden Herald - March 10, 1960)
