Mr. Bankston was a lifelong member of Clifton Baptist Church. During his life, he filled many positions at the church including deacon, church superintendent, clerk and Sunday School teacher.
Seventy-four years ago, he was one of the first two graduates of Franklinton High School - known then as Franklinton Central Institute. He taught school for several years at the Gorman School and taught Allie Magee, who later became his wife.
Early in his life, he was a farmer and was active in many farm organizations. He was a member of one of the earliest farm organizations called the Grange.
His parents were Young Peter and Louise Magee Bankston.
