James G Bailey, Jr, A Retired Educator, Principal, School Superintendent And Lieutenant Colonel With The Louisiana Army National Guard Died At 11:50 AM Saturday At His Residence In Franklinton. Age 78. A Native Of Monroe, Louisiana. He Began His Career As A Band Director At Franklinton High School Where He Later Served As Principal, And Lastly As Superintendent Of The Washington Parish Schools For 13 Years. He Was A World War II Veteran Of The US Army Air Corps And Later Served As Battalion Commander Of The 205th Engineering Battalion Based In The Washington And St Tammany Area. He Served As A Board Member And Chairman Of The Board Of Washington Parish Hospital District No 1 (Riverside Medical Center) In Franklinton For Many Years. He Was A Member And Deacon Of The Franklinton First Baptist Church, Where He Also Served As Chairman Of The Deacons On Several Occasions. After Retirement, He Also Served For Several Years As Manager Of The Franklinton Country Club. Survivors Include His Wife Of 54 Years, Audrey Adcock Bailey; 2 Sons And A Daughter-In-Law, Kenneth M And Cathryn Bailey Of Monticello, Mississippi, James G 'Jay' Bailey, III Of Lafayette, Indiana, 1 Daughter, Beverly E Bailey Of Franklinton; 2 Grand- children, Laura And Kirk Bass And Ken Bailey, Jr, 2 Great Grandchildren, Kathleen And Seth Bass.

Audrey Ruth Adcock Bailey, AGE 84 and a resident of Franklinton died at 11:55 pm Friday June 25, 2010 at her home. She was a native of Coushatta, Louisiana and a member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton. She was a talented musician and a certified Piano teacher, instructing numerous young people for many years and volunteering her time with the Franklinton High School Choir and to countless couples at wedding ceremonies and local funeral services. Mrs. Bailey was a good seamstress and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Franklinton Women's Club, the Winterset Club and was involved in the formation of the Franklinton Town Pool. Mrs. Audrey was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church Choir & was instrumental in the formation of and fundraising for the First Baptist Church Handbell Choir, the Children's Choir and the Church library. It was said that if she had "a Bee under her bonnet" there wasn't a cause she could not raise funds for, either for her church or numerous local charities or other endeavors. Mrs. Bailey was very civic-minded and a true humanitarian demonstrated by her committed involvement throughout all areas of our community.
Survived by: Daughter: Beverly Elizabeth Bailey of Franklinton; 2 Sons Kenneth Melvin Bailey of Monticello, Mississippi, James G "Jay" Bailey, III of West Lafayette, Indiana; 2 Grandchildren: Ken Bailey, Jr and Laura Lynn Bass; 4 Great-grandchildren Caleb Bailey, Kathleen Bass, Seth Bass, and Tucker Bass; Sister-in-law: Laurine Adcock of Coushatta, Louisiana She w Conley, and Maggie Womack, and 3 brothers Ray Adcock, Clyde Adcock and Thomas Adcock
