SPRINGHILL, LA - Funeral services for Edwin D. "Eddie" Barberousse, age 89, will be held Thursday, September 4, 2003 at 2 pm in the Central Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Harvey and Rev. Kenneth C. Everett officiating. Burial will follow in the Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill, LA. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 pm to 9 pm in the Bailey Mortuary. Mr. Barberousse was born May 6, 1914 in Atlanta, LA to Joseph Leon and Mattie Mae Canterbury Barberousse and died September 1, 2003 following a lengthy illness. He was a resident of Springhill, LA for 65 years, faithful member and Deacon of Central Baptist Church, former Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent, retired employee of International Paper Company with 38 1/2 years of service and member of the Springhill Masonic Lodge #348 F & AM. He is survived by daughter, Angie Mundy of Shreveport, LA; son, Joe C. Barberousse and wife, Cherry of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Tammy Martin and husband, Ty, Toni Evans and husband Matt, all of Shreveport, LA, Wendy Barberousse of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; great grandchildren, Austin and Garrison Evans, Jaycie Martin; sisters, Margie Stancil of Austin, TX, Mary Fuqua and husband, Claude of Lafayette, LA; brother Euell Barberousse and wife, Eleanor of Virginia Beach, VA and sister-in-law, Louise Barberousse of Hillsboro, TX. Preceding him in death was his wife, Orville Cook "Cookie" Barberousse, his parents, brother, Julius Barberousse and sister, Myra Barberousse. Pallbearers will be Jim Ebarb, Jerry Nash, Scott Taliaferro, Robert Bryan, Robert Colley, and Olin Mills. The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Rick Michael and the caring staff of Kingsley Place Assisted Living.
