SHREVEPORT, LA - Tommie Lue Guilliams Maddox, age 82, passed away November 16, 2010 in Shreveport, LA after a courageous fight with Alzheimer's disease. She will always be known as a lady with a strong will and determined attitude. "TLue", as she liked to be called, was born on October 7, 1928, in Willisville, Arkansas.
TLue grew up in Springhill, LA and graduated from Springhill High School. She attended Centenary College in Shreveport, graduating with a bachelor's degree in secretarial science. TLue was president of the Aufait sorority, a member of the honorary society Maroon Jackets and a "little sister" of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. She played the saxophone throughout high school and in the Centenary College band. At Centenary TLue met and married Henry Russell Maddox on June 25, 1948. He preceded her death in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents Thomas M. and Nell B. Guilliams of Springhill.
TLue was active in many different clubs and organizations throughout her life. She had served as president of the Fleur-De-Lis garden club and was a nationally accredited flower show judge. She was a faithful member of American Business Women's Association (ABWA) achieving near perfect attendance since 1970. She was Woman of the Year and served as chapter president several times. TLue had a talent for tole painting and was a member of the Loaded Brush of Northwest Louisiana Chapter of the National Society of Tole and Decorative Painters and various other tole painting groups. She was active in several dance clubs throughout the Ark-La-Tex area. TLue was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. She retired from LSU Medical Center in 1993.
TLue is survived by her two children T. Michael Maddox and wife, Brenda of Spring, TX, and Patricia M. Deen and husband Robert of Shreveport, four grandchildren Brandon Maddox, Colin Maddox, and Kevin Maddox of Spring, TX and Cara Pulliam of Bossier City as well as six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 20, 2010 in Rose-Neath Marshall St. Chapel. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery, Springhill, LA at 2:00 P.M. Pallbearers will be Brandon Maddox, Colin Maddox, Kevin Maddox, Jordan Pulliam, Marvin Deen, and Kenneth Deen.
