January 8, 1905 - September 8, 1965
Walter Ray Farrar, 60, of Norphlet, a retired construction worker, died in a local hospital Wednesday at 8:25 p.m. of injuries received in an automobile accident Aug. 29. State Trooper August Pieroru said Farrar was hurt when his automobile was involved in a collision with a car driven by J. B. Frazier, 50, of El Dorado. The accident is reported to have happened at the intersection of the Mt. Holly and Myrtle Grove roads, about four miles west of El Dorado. Farrar was born in Lillie, La. Jan. 8, 1905, the son of Seab and Lucy B. Farrar. A veteran of World War II and a member of the First Baptist Church of Norphlet for the last 19 years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Quelle Hayes Farrar; one son, Walter Ray Farrar, Jr., of Jacksonville, Fla., a daughter, Miss Sarah Ruth Farrar of Norphlet, a grandson, Walter Ray Farrar, II of Jacksonville; two brothers, Sam Farrar of Jacksonville and Seab Farrar of Lillie and three sisters, Mrs. H. E. Flatt of Dubach, La., Mrs. C. C. Sandel of Shreveport and Mrs. O. N. Meadows of Homer, La. He leaves also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services have been announced for Friday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Young's with the Rev. Zane Chesser officiating, assisted by Elder J. L. Smith. Burial will be in the cemetery at Lillie. Pallbearers will be I. J. Riggs, C. G. Echols, George E. Bates, Donald Mason, Bill Welch and V. L. Armstrong. (The El Dorado Times - September 9, 1965)
