Funeral services for Walter R. Britton, 71, will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West, 4000 Meriwether Road in Shreveport.
A visitation will be held Friday, April 30, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The service will be officiated by his friend since childhood, Reverend Luke Bissell.
Walter was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on June 5, 1949 to James Robert Britton and Leona Mae Lynch Britton and passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 in Shreveport. He graduated from Woodlawn High School before receiving a football scholarship to Louisiana Tech.
Walter retired from Libbey Glass, and previously worked at Riley Beard Steel, after a career working as a machinist, welder, designer, engineer, and supervisor. Walter excelled at solving complex problems, and enjoyed developing new machinery and using new technology.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Blaise Robert Britton.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 35 years, Glenda Britton; sons, Eugene (Janet), Robbie (Stacey), and Keith (Kim); daughter, Michelle May; sister, Cindy Britton Francis (Elmo); nine grandchildren, Kelsea Britton, Anastasia Britton, Lacey Ates, Logan Ates, Brittani Allgood, Maggie Britton, Emma Britton, Owen Britton, and Hailey Britton; and one great-granddaughter, Lilly Allgood. He is also survived by his two devoted dachshunds; Copper and Flossie.
Pallbearers will be Logan Ates, Chris King, Dawson King, Mark Gruner, Tommy Wimberly, and Thomas Glenn.
Walter will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
