Funeral services will be held at a 2:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial Monday, July 20, 2009 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Eddie Gautreau, Jr., 79, who passed away July 17, 2009 at his residence in Lafayette. Reverend Donald Pousson, Pastor of Immaculate Conception Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Reverend Marshall Clotiaux, Pastor of the Living Faith Fellowship Church of Youngsville will also participate in the services. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Mr Gautreau, better known as "Bozo", was born on February 8, 1930 in Gonzales, Louisiana. He served in the Korean War in defense of our freedom and the United States of America. On July 18, 1952, he married the love of his life, Celena Marie Bourgeois. Besides being a loving husband, devoted father and friend, he was well known and respected throughout the community. He always had a smile and a joke for everyone. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Celena Marie and five loving children. One daughter and her husband, Wendy and Gary Howell. Along with four sons and their wives; Brent and Pam, Darrell and Andi, Brian and Jean, Duane and Jennifer. Thirteen grandchildren, Sydney, Olivia, Camille, Ava, Matt and wife, Shelley, Eddie, Shannon, Trevor, Shelly, Baily, Mary, Blake and Abby; one great-granddaughter, Hannah; one sister, Betty Bercegay and two brothers, N.C. and Garney Gautreau. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emma and Eddie Gautreau, Sr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Sunday, July 19, 2009 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Monday from 8:00 am until the time of services at 2:00 pm. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Sunday evening. Pallbearers will be Robert Blanchard, Donald Braud, N.C. Gautreau, Garney Gautreau, Matt Gautreau, Eddie Gautreau, Blake Gautreau, and Cecil Broussard. Honorary pallbearers are the entire 28th General Hospital Unit of the Korean War, represented by Nolan Thibodeaux, Weldon Tyler, Darnell Naquin, Kenneth Champagne, Floyd Friloux, Joe Lott, Al Leday, Ronald Fly, and beloved friends, Skerrty Menard and T.A. Miller. Memorial contributions can be made in the name of Eddie Gautreau, Jr. to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Ste 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
