Mausoleum
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 19, 2021 at 10:00 am in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Joseph Albert Dugas, 91, who passed away February 11, 2021. Father Daniel Edwards, pastor of St. Jules Church, will celebrate the mass and conduct the funeral services. Phyllis Simar and Charlotte Jagneaux will provide musical selections, and interment will follow the mass in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will take place Thursday afternoon between 1:00 - 4:00 pm, and resume Friday morning at 8:00 am until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 3:00 pm on Thursday.
Survivors include his two sisters, Marion Naquin and Thelma Hebert; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife JoAnne Dugas; parents, the former Yola Cormier and Leonard Dugas; three sisters, Anna Lee Roger, Rose Thibodeaux, and Irene Leger; and one brother, John Melvin Dugas.
Joseph was a born and raised in Lafayette, and lived here his whole life. He was a bus driver for the Lafayette Parish School System, and was a member of the United States Army who served during the Korean Conflict.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Roger, Willard Roger, Jacob Roger, John Leger, Kenneth Leger Jr., and Jean Naquin. Honorary pallbearers include Allen Roger, Ray Bourgeois, and Mason Roger.
