Lafayette - Funeral services will be held Friday, February 9, 2018 at 10:00 AM in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette for Jake J Krauss, Jr, 74, who died Friday, February 2, 2018, at his residence in Youngsville.Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Deacon Robert Klingman will conduct the funeral services.

Survivors include his children Traci Robert, Ken Krauss and wife Anne; grandchildren Lauren and Alex Robert, Amelia and Madeleine Krauss and sister Mary Thorsen.

He was preceded in death by parents Jake Krauss, Sr and Rose Krauss and brother Steven Krauss.

A native of Pensacola, Florida and a resident of Youngsville, Jake was retired having owned and operated a small contract hardware business in northwest Florida. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. His joys in life were fishing, boating, diving, traveling, and time spent with family, especially his grandchildren. He will best be remembered for his patience and willingness to provide a compassionate ear, sharing trusted advice, and facilitating family gatherings at some of his favorite restaurants. He will be deeply missed by his loving family.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Krauss family to Jake's neighbors in Sugar Mill Pond for being helpful and watching out for his well being.
