Saint Francis of Assissi Cemetery
St. Martin County,
Louisiana

September 23, 1969 - February 28, 2016

LAFAYETTE- Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Kinchen Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00AM for Charlotte Handy, who passed away on February 28, 2016.

Charlotte Marie Handy was born on September 23, 1969 to the union of the late Alice Mary Roberts Handy and Joseph “Major” Handy in Lafayette, LA. On Sunday, February 28, 2016 God’s angels whispered for Charlotte’s spirit to enter the land of Paradise and she quietly surrendered, knowing that for those who die in Christ there is no death but only eternal everlasting life. Charlotte now rests with her beloved mother, Alice Mary Roberts Handy; her maternal grandparents, Emile and Annabelle Roberts; her paternal grandparents, Percy Handy and Dorothy Davis Handy, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Charlotte was a 1987 graduate of Holy Rosary Institute in Lafayette, LA and excelled academically in all subjects. Upon graduation, she attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. Charlotte began her career helping others at We Care Homes in Breaux Bridge. After successfully building this agency to their height of success, Charlotte relocated to New Iberia, LA to pursue her dream which was to open her own agency. In 2009, Charlotte’s dream became a reality when she became the owner and Chief Executive Officer of Home Care Assistance. She was a determined person who achieved everything that she put effort into.

Charlotte lived her life to the fullest and enjoyed having fun. One of her greatest joys was giving birth to her daughter, Armani Troielle Terez Sanders. Charlotte sought out to teach Armani all that she could to ensure that she was equipped with all the necessary tools to live as a productive, successful person as she grows up. She was a family person and opened her home and heart to everyone. Charlotte was often found providing advice and encouragement to anyone who crossed paths with her whether they asked for it or not. One of her favorite past times was singing. She enjoyed singing with her daddy and recently accompanied him on a trip to Switzerland where she had the time of her life performing with him and his band.

Charlotte’s earthly house has been dissolved but many precious memories remain with her devoted and loving daughter, Armani Troielle Terez Sanders; her father, Joseph “Major” Handy (Frances); maternal aunts, Dorothy Roberts and Carrie Taylor; maternal uncle, Emile Roberts, Jr.; paternal aunt, Lorena Francois; paternal uncles, Freddie Handy and Paul Handy, along with a host of other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.

Charlotte was called upon to do many things and she answered with a big smile, love and humility. She was forever reaching out her hand to help pull someone up. She was truly a child of God and her infectious, welcoming smile and wonderful memories shall live on in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 4, 2016 at Kinchen Funeral Home, Inc. from 4:00PM until 9:00PM and will resume on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Kinchen Funeral Home, Inc. from 8:00AM until the time of services. Interment will immediately follow services at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Cemetery.
