A determined life came to an ending Sunday, December 11, 2011, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge. Stephen J "Steve" Dorsey was a lifelong resident of Plaquemine, where he left behind his wife of 41 years, Gloria D Dorsey; and children, Juanita "Nita" Johnson, Linda J Banks, Reginald Johnson and Christopher J "Chris" Casma. He has nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He also leaves behind his mother, Gloria M Dorsey; sisters Helen "Cookie" Dorsey, Hildred "Lil Marie" Davis and Diane Fizer; brothers, Edwin Dorsey Sr, Windell Dorsey and Burbank Dorsey Sr; 12 aunts, two uncles, four sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law; four godchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends. He was known everywhere as a master carpenter and skilled mechanic. The visitation will be Friday, December 16, 4 pm to 8 pm at Roscoe Mortuary, 58635 Meriam Street, Plaquemine. The funeral service will be held at Greater Little Zion Baptist Church, 57731 Desobry Street, Rev Frank Collins III, Saturday, December 17, at 1 pm.
