LAFAYETTE ~ Funeral services will be held Monday, December 16, 2013 at an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial in S. Anthony Catholic Church in Lafayette for McKensey "Ken" Portalis, age 59, who passed away Monday, December 9, 2013 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.
Mr Portalis was a native of Church Point and lived in Lafayette for most of his life. He was employed with ULL since 1997. Mr Portalis was a parishioner of St Anthony Catholic Church in Lafayette.
Survivors include his friend Sandra of Lafayette; one daughter whom he raised, Felicia Udomeh of Lafayette; brothers, John Allen "Shorty" Portalis, Frank Dural, both of Lafayette and Joseph Collins of Carencro; sisters, Barbara Felix, Shirley Breaux and husband Felton, Dianna Dural and husband Johnny, Patricia Mouton and Almeter Portalis all of Lafayette; god children Melissa, Shayla and Keisha; friends, Daniel Bob, Rotanna Crouchet, Ronald Crouchet, Mike Crouchet, Horace and Bernice all of Lafayette; aunt Clairnell George of Lafayette; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family, including his "family" at UL.
He was preceded in death by parents, Junius Portalis and the former Evelyn Harris both natives of Carencro; brothers, Arthur Thomas and Wilbert Portalis; and tsisters, Barbara Savoie and Mary Portalis Johnson.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm Sunday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm Sunday and will continue from 7:00 am until service time on Monday.
