Willis Colvin, a home builder, passed away at home in Downsville June 14, 2013 due to compounded health complications. Willis was born and raised in Dubach but lived all of his adult life in Downsville. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Paul Willis Colvin and Mary Lucille Colvin, father and mother in-law Otis and Esther Allen, brother-in-law James Lamar Tyner, infant newborn twin brother and sister, and son Alan Wayne Colvin. He is survived by wife and soul mate Laverle Allen Colvin who was the gem of his life, sons Timmy Paul Colvin and wife Julie of Big Piney, Wyoming, Dave Allen Dalton and wife Rhonda of Downsville, and daughter Allison Ann Dalton West Monroe. Grandchildren Finnon Flowers West Monroe, Allen Michael Dalton Downsville, Taylor Michele Dalton Downsville, Katelyn Alexandra Dalton Downsville, Ferrin Flowers West Monroe and Jack Johnson West Monroe. Brothers Justin Colvin and wife Ruby Farmerville, Keith Colvin Omaha, Nebraska, sisters Nancy Colvin Tyner of Spring, Tx, Mary Lou Colvin Adams Fort Worth, Texas and Maudreen Colvin Haller and husband Joe Spring, Texas, numerous nieces and nephews and great grandchildren, all whom he loved and all who loved him. Willis was loved and respected by all that knew him. He spent his entire adult life in Union Parish but having built many homes during his career with Pardue Construction he had numerous friends and acquaintances in the surrounding area. Willis enjoyed many different hobbies over his lifetime, hunting, fishing, playing softball, farming, roping, playing music and cooking. And helping others. There are many people today who can recall his gatherings for boiling crawfish or a hog roast. A true tradesman and craftsman he left his mark on many people's lives in many different ways. Devout in his ethics and standards he served as a role model and mentor for his siblings, children, grand children, friends, and many others. He will be greatly missed but we will rejoin him in heaven when we all see God's Face. Pall bearers will be Timmy Colvin, Allen Dalton, Finnon Flowers, Gerald Flowers, Allen Michael Dalton, Andy Rhone, and Scott Tucker. Honorary pall bearers will be Bobby Haley, Ben Purdy, Sonny Patton, Butch Pardue, Kelly McCleod, and Bobby King. Visitation will be at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Farmerville on Saturday June 15 and the morning of June 16. Funeral service will be held on Sunday June 16 at 2:00pm with Brian Halley officiating. Gravesite service and burial will follow at Ruggs-Bluff Cemetery in Point. A request was made by Willis for dress casual, no ties. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, 7200 Desiard St, Monroe, Louisiana 318 343-2244 The family wishes to thank Dr Frank Sortor, Dr Emile Barrow, Dr Keith White, Dr Steven Venters and St Joseph's Hospice and staff.
