He enlisted February 25, 1862 at Arcadia, Louisiana. He was captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi on July 4, 1863, and paroled July 6, 1863. His name appeared on a Roll of Prisoners Of War as paroled at Greensboro, North Carolina at the end of the war in 1865 (month not specified) in accordance with the Terms of Military Convention dated April 26, 1865.
