Company B 9 Regiment Texas Cavalry

He enlisted in the 4th Regiment Texas Cavalry on September 1, 1861 at Camp Reeves. On October 14, 1861, the 4th Regiment Texas Cavalry became Company B 9th Regiment Texas Cavalry at which time he re-enlisted (in the 9th Regiment). The Company Muster Roll for May - June 1862 listed his rank at 4th Corporal. The Company Muster Roll for March - April 1863 listed his rank as 2nd Corporal. The September - October 1863 Company Muster Roll listed his rank as 1st Corporal. It also noted he had been mounted on a government horse since June 10, 1863. On August 31, 1864, his name appeared on a Roll of Prisoners of War at Memphis, Tennessee. The roll also listed him as a deserter from "the Rebel Army" and listed his rank as Private. On the same date his signature appeared on an Oath of Allegiance to the United States as a Deserters Oath.
