Funeral services for Shane Dewayne Howell of Center, Texas will be 10:00am Thursday, May 31, 2018 in the chapel of Griffin Funeral Home 911 Warren Drive, West Monroe with Rev Neil Everette and Rev Scott Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Bernice, LA under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00pm until 8:00pm Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the funeral home.
Shane was born June 24, 1980 at Glenwood Hospital in West Monroe. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved going hog hunting, deer hunting and fishing. A good night to Shane was riding around on the ATV and grilling with friends and family. He also loved riding horses and “cowboying” with his brother-in-law, Wild Bill. His first job was at the West Monroe sale barn where he hauled cows. He even managed to make a couple of Rodeos to ride bulls. Shane also worked in the oil field for 14 years, and worked for the Union Boiler Maker. Shane was diagnosed with Melanoma on December 1, 2015. On December 16, 2017, he had brain surgery at M D Anderson in Houston. During this time Shane was going back and forth to the hospital receiving treatment and radiation to help fight the cancer and God placed a nurse practitioner named Jessie Richard in his life, who went above and beyond for him and helped him anyway she could. She was always just a phone call away and stood by his side until the end. Shane passed from this life on May 26, 2018 at 12:45pm at M D Anderson.
He is preceded in death by his mother Susan Darlene Howell; grandparents Hershel and Helen Howell, and Donnell and Dorothy Friday.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Rowland Howell of Center; father William Nathan Howell of Calhoun; sister Jenna Howell and brother-in-law John Garrett of Calhoun; brother, ler and Tiffaney Keeler and husband Therrin all of Center; grandsons Jayden Tayler, Stetson Waller and Gatlyn Caldwell; mother-in-law JoAnn Price of Center; father-in-law Bill Rowland of Dubach; brother-in-law, Bill Rowland and sister-in-law Shanon Rowland both of Center; nephews Hayze Garrett of Calhoun, William Rowland and Hunter Rowland both of Center; niece Emily Thompson of Shreveport; his fur-babies Gator and Khloe; also survived by a host of extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Rudy Howell, John Garrett, Roy McCormick, Matt Stephens, Stephen Hodge, D W Wheless, Duncan R Duncan and Steven Andcusick.
